As an organization the DPL Foundation has proudly supported this effort of heritage and cultural necessity over the past 3 years as a funder and thought partner. The project has not only served in the preservation of memories for many Detroiters via Black Bottom Street View, it also serves as a physical historical record of the unheard and overlooked.

 

It is this dedication to continuing the essential practice of storytelling to enhance the visibility of those displaced within Detroit both in the past and present that makes this project special and essential to the rich cultural fabric of Detroit.

BBA is a platform for the voices that will shape the future of Detroit and representation of the black community within the city which is imperative.
