Flagship Initiative

An initiative to introduce and make familiar coding and tech and how it enriches lives and can become a stepping stone for the future to our youth.

Digital Skills Detroit

 

Peer to Peer University (P2PU) offers free, in person digital literacy training to 200 Detroit residents through the Digital Skills Detroit Program. Participants build essential tech skills for work, daily life, and online safety through hands on classes covering computer basics, internet use, smartphones, telehealth, and homebuying. Those who complete 15 hours of training may receive a free device. Open to all Detroit residents.

Peer 2 Peer University

 

Flagship Initiative 

Peer 2 Peer University is a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for people to learn together in community spaces through free, peer-supported study groups.

Motown by the book

 

Motown By The Book celebrates the joy of reading for all ages through engaging programs presented during National Book Month each October. From conversations with works by Motown artists and storytellers to family centered literacy experiences in partnership with Detroit Public Schools, the program connects music, history, and storytelling to inspire a lifelong love of reading.

Crosstown connection

 

The Crosstown Connection project aims to service the Morningside community and aid in closing the gap caused by the digital divide by providing resources for connectivity.

The project has not only served in the preservation of memories for many Detroiters via “Black Bottom Street View”, it also serves as a physical historical record of the unheard and overlooked.
